CFI – CERTIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR

DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a CFI/CFII to join our growing team!

  • Must be able to provide high-quality flight and ground instruction according to our syllabi.
  • CFI-I required, ask us about a training agreement.
  • 2-years of CFI experience preferred, but not required.
  • Diamond, G1000, Redbird, and Part 141 experience a plus, but not required!
  • Part-time availability OK.

ASSISTANT CHIEF FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR

DESCRIPTION:

The Assistant Chief Flight Instructor is a key position in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 141 flight training program. The Assistant Chief plays a critical, contributing role in ensuring that students successfully move along their path towards becoming a successful pilot. Carolina Sky Flight Training is contracted to provide fight training for the Charleston Southern University (CSU) flight training program. This position can be located at either our Summerville or Moncks Corner location. The Assistant Chief is responsible for not only performing student stage checks, instructor proficiency checks, and the flight and ground training of their assigned students, and leading the CFI team, but they also serve as a liaison between Carolina Sky and CSU, ensuring student progression.

Carolina Sky Flight Training is a veteran-owned Flight Training Center with locations at Summerville and Moncks Corner Airports in South Carolina. Carolina Sky is committed to providing an unparalleled flight training experience through access to the largest fleet of modern Diamond aircraft in South Carolina, and innovative Redbird simulator technology. Our passionate and knowledgeable instructors help students achieve their aviation goals. We are one of only three FAA-approved Part 141 flight schools in South Carolina. We maintain a fun, safe, and flexible work environment.

Qualifications

  • CFI and CFII certificate with current 2nd class medical
  • Pilot in command (PIC) time and hours of experience as referenced in FAR 141.36 for Private, Instrument, and Commercial courses.
  • NOTE Candidates that do not meet a minimum of 1000 hours pilot in command time for Commercial course will still be considered for Private and Instrument.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime and weekend shifts as required
  • Knowledge of university and school policies and procedures is nice to have but not required
  • Skill in decision-making and problem-solving
  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public
  • Skill in prioritizing and organization of workload
  • Attention to detail involving FAA regulations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Offer of employment is contingent upon a successful background check and drug test

    Responsibilities

    • The position is FAA-approved and will represent the school according to FAA standards
    • In conjunction with approved check CFIs, administer stage and end-of-course checks and conduct flight and ground training for assigned students according to FAA regulations
    • Conduct initial and annual proficiency checks for instructors teaching under Part 141 as needed
    • Maintain familiarity with approved Training Course Outlines (TCO) and syllabi, and ensure instructors and students meet course standards, training requirements, and objectives for each Part 141 course
    • Revise Part 141 TCOs and syllabi as needed to ensure compliance with Part 141 regulations
    • Ensure student electronic records are kept in compliance with FAA Part 141 regulations through regular review/spot checks of student records
    • In conjunction with designated Carolina Sky CFI Preceptors, liaise with CSU bi-weekly to provide updates on student progress
    • Maintain consistent engagement with instructors to identify and resolve student progression issues
    • Assist Chief Instructor and Operations Manager to ensure instructor compliance with FAA regulations and Carolina Sky safety and customer service standards
    • Assist Operations Manager in the planning of monthly team safety meetings
    • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned
